Ontario Renovation Rebates Finder

Use this Ontario renovation rebates finder to narrow the program questions you need to ask before you set a construction budget. The type of work matters first: replacing finishes, improving drainage, creating a qualifying family unit and reducing energy use are different funding questions.

Which programs are worth checking for your renovation?

A flood-protection device, an accessibility change, a family suite and an energy upgrade each follow different rules. Answer a few project questions to find official programs that may fit. The administrator decides eligibility.

Programs to check

The four cards below cover different work. They are possible leads for your planning, not an application, approval or promised payment. Check the timing, property and contractor conditions before spending.

Toronto flood-protection subsidy

Needs more information

Up to 80% of eligible invoiced cost, capped at $6,650 per property

Appears for flood-protection work in Toronto. Listed assessments and devices may qualify; ordinary finishing does not.

Still to confirm: Confirm an eligible single-family, duplex, triplex or fourplex property, City contractor licence for the exact work class, any required backwater-valve permit, downspout/debt/device limits and application timing. Expanded amounts apply to eligible work completed on or after November 12, 2025. This finder does not state that Capable qualifies for subsidized work.

Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit

Needs more information

2025 tax year: 14.5% of up to $50,000 in qualifying expenses; maximum $7,250

Appears for a self-contained family suite when the senior/disability and qualifying-relative conditions may fit.

Still to confirm: Confirm the qualifying individual, relative, dwelling, renovation and expense rules. CRA currently shows 2025 amounts here; check current tax-year rules for 2026 work. Keep records and establish the qualifying scope before construction.

Home Accessibility Tax Credit

Needs more information

Up to $20,000 of eligible expenses per year — not a $20,000 refund

Appears for permanent accessibility or safety changes involving a qualifying person aged 65+ or eligible for the disability tax credit.

Still to confirm: Confirm the household, dwelling and permanent qualifying work. Routine repairs and ordinary appliances are not a substitute for qualifying accessibility work. Keep documentation; confirm the relevant tax-year credit rate with CRA.

Home Renovation Savings

Needs more information

Examples: bundle insulation up to $7,700; eligible cold-climate air-source heat pump up to $7,500

Appears for energy upgrades. The program offers assessment-based bundles and eligible single-upgrade routes with different conditions.

Still to confirm: For the bundle, arrange the required pre-work energy assessment and complete two or more qualifying upgrades. Single-upgrade routes have their own product/size and contractor conditions. Check the official page for current availability and deadlines before buying or starting work.

Check the sequence before you commit

Start with the work you intend to buy, then open the official rules from the matching card. Make a note of the assessment, contractor, product and documentation steps that apply to that work. A quote should separate the construction scope from an amount you hope to recover later.

If work has started, use the timing selector honestly. Some routes need action before construction; others review eligible expenses after completion. A possible match is a reason to check the rules, not a reason to assume your completed work qualifies.

Keep tax credits separate from subsidies

A tax credit is claimed through the tax return under its own household, expense and tax-year rules. A subsidy or rebate is administered by its program and may require an application, inspection or approved equipment. The displayed maximum is not a promise that your project will receive it.

Questions before using a possible match

Can I subtract the maximum from my renovation estimate?

Wait until the administrator or tax rules establish the eligible scope and expenses. Keep the gross construction budget visible so a funding assumption does not conceal the amount you need to pay for the work.

Does a match confirm the contractor qualifies?

No. Confirm the precise licence, registration or program-contractor requirement directly. This tool makes no contractor qualification claim.
